The word chiropractic is derived from the Greek language and literally means “ To Perform With The Hands”. Historical paintings from ancient Egypt and Greece have shown chiropractic adjustments have been performed for over a thousand years ago. However, it was not until 1895 that D.D. Palmer discovered what is modern chiropractic.
If D.D. Palmer is the founder of Chiropractic, it was his son, B.J. Palmer, who can be called the ambassador of the profession. B.J. was responsible for opening up the original Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
Chiropractic is a health care discipline, which emphasizes the inherent recuperation power of the body to heal itself without drugs or surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the spine and nervous system and how that relationship affects the restoration and preservation of health.
